To fans of veteran actor Anupam Kher, who have enjoyed and appreciated his masterful performance in movies like Saaransh, Daddy, Karma and even Khosla Ka Ghosla and A Wednesday in recent times, this reviewer sincerely appeals to not opt for Kher's latest flick Mr. Bhatti On Chutti. To see such a talented actor delve in the abyss of buffoonery would certainly make one wail in anguish…

Karan Razdan, who had come up with the horrible horror flick Warning some months back, now comes up with another worse (if possible) product in Mr. Bhatti On Chutti, film that can be called a 'retarded remake' of the Amitabh Bachchan thriller Don.

 Brij Bhushan Bhatti (Kher) is a nerdy assistant bank manager and a wannabe private detective who keeps calling up the White House because he wants to talk to the US President George Bush and share his 'peace plan' with him. When the intolerable Bhatti gets a mysterious package containing details of a free vacation to Liverpool, he jumps at the chance…and straight into a murky plot involving a lookalike terrorist named Abu Siddique (Anupam kher again) with a diabolical plan to blow up various parts of the United Kingdom, a moll Katie (Bhairavi Goswami), who talks in an irritating baby voice, a cop Javed Khan (Abid Ali), who wants Bhatti to infiltrate Siddique's gang to ferret out information, a Pakistani staying in London (Shakti Kapoor) and a motley crew of other equally asinine characters, who seem hell-bent on ruining the viewer's day. Needless to say, the clumsy bumpkin Bhatti manages to save the day and becomes a hero for one and all (yawns galore)….

 It is indeed disappointing to see Kher as he merrily stumbles his way through the story with his irritating traits (he starts dancing whenever any cell phone within hearing range belts out a ringtone). The rest of the cast seems to compete with each other to see who can ham the best. Moreover, the look and print of the film reminds one of 'C' grade movies that used to be made in the 80s and the less said about the script, screenplay, dialogues and cinematography, the better.
 The only one scene when the viewer might wipe his eyes and wake up is when Amitabh Bachchan appears in a cameo, but then, the Big B's persona and baritone could make a log sit up and take notice…
 In conclusion, don't waste your chutti to go and watch Mr. Bhatti On Chutti…

‘Mr Bhatti on Chutti’ to release on May 18, 2012

After facing delays and objections from the censor board, Anupam Kher-starrer “Mr Bhatti On Chutti” will finally come out May 18.
Earlier this month “Mr Bhatti…” landed in trouble with the censor board when the makers of the film were asked to bleep out the names of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former US president George Bush.
Directed by Karan Razdan, “Mr Bhatti on Chutti” talks about a common man, Mr. Bhatti’s dream of a workable peace plan in a world ravaged by war and hunger. The film is also a celebration of Amitabh Bachchan’s stardom. He plays Mr. Bhatti’s conscience and also his inspiration.
The cast also has includes actors Bhairavi Goswami, Ashwani Chopra, Abid Ali, Shakti Kapoor, Emma Kearney, Pawan Shankar and Neha Phendse besides Amitabh Bachchan in a special appearance.

Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein (2012) Movie Review

For a film which advises people to not take life too seriously and to stop to smell roses on the way, Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein itself seems to have been determined to not let the audience have a good time. The film, which stars Sachin Khedekar and Anupam Kher, is as preachy and boring as it gets.
 Aditya Pradhan (Sachin Khedekar) is a top-notch IT professional with a wife and daughter but no time for either of them as he is too busy either tapping away at his laptop-even when having his breakfast or barking instructions to his subordinates. Needless to say, Pradhan ends up missing to attend all the important events in the lives of his family members and is given the cold shoulder by the scorned women, who leave the house to stay with Pradhan's wife's family.
 Things take a turn for the worse when Pradhan spends a lonely Sunday by himself and wakes up the next day to see that the day has been repeated and the same things that happened a day ago are being repeated. Though Pradhan is disturbed by this turn of events, he is convinced by his friend Mohan (Atul Parchure) that he needs rest and that such things are happening solely because of work stress. The protagonist reluctantly accepts this explanation and retires for the night, only to wake up the next day and discover that it is still a Sunday.
 The search for the answers of this baffling mystery leads him to the door step of an anonymous visually impaired stranger (Anupam Kher) and how the latter manages to make Pradhan see the light of the day and enjoy every moment of life forms the rest of the plot.
 At the very outset, though Khedekar managed to perform quite effectively, his bad hairpiece makes him look unintentionally comical. If that was not enough, seeing a fine actor like Anupam Kher behave like a juvenile and guffaw and clap his hands like a retard at every situation is sure to put you off. The supporting cast though does manage to hold its own, from actors like Mrinal Kulkarni to Vijay Patkar to Anjan Shrivastav to Atul Parchure.
 However, the lack of a powerful script and too much of preachy dialogues, which seem to hammer home the same point again and again with irritating regularity, is enough to make one groan in agony. (I mean, seriously…this guy doesn't really deserve to go through so much distress just because he is a workaholic, eh? A peaceful weekend getaway might have achieved the same results, for all you know…)
 All in all, being a workaholic on the weekend is a better idea than taking the time out to watch Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein

The movie shows the journey of an IT professional (Sachin Khedekar) from his workaholic stage where he always craves for more, to a stage where he is satisfied and content and living the present. During this journey he comes across an interesting inspirational individual, Charismatic Blind man (Anupam Kher) who makes him understand the importance of living life wholeheartedly. Overall the film is a feel good cinema suiting all ages.

Char Din ki Chandni Movie review

Don’t ask who’s who, what’s what, and why things happen here. And your life will be much easier while watching this utterly scrambled comedy. A homage to those magnificent maestros of mirth David Dhawan, Anees Bazmi and Rohit Shetty, “Chaar Din Ki Chandni”(CDKC) takes the theme of outrageous festivity to a new high.

Characters, all 27-28 of them, are either screaming, guffawing, burping or performing one or the other bodily functions that we are squeamish about when not watching a boorish comedy.

So what’s this Chandni about? There’s a wedding at the centre of the bustling canvas. As in Karnik’s earlier comedy “Yamla Pagla Deewana” you’d be well-advised to focus hard on that wacky wedding because that’s where the army of characters, some loud others cacophonic, congregate in a combustion of comic compulsions.

Be warned. If you are allergic to toilet humour then you might find Karnik’s comedy a pain in the you-know-what. To his credit Karnik doesn’t let go of the sur of chaotic satire from the first to the last blast. His actors too are completely soaked in the hilarity. Anupam Kher and Om Puri as the two patriarchal heads of two demoniacally dysfunctional families go through the motions of free-falling slapstick without tripping over the jokes.

The rest of the vast cast features some surprising actors, like Chandrachur Singh and Anita Raj both of whom return after quite a gap. Regrettably the tightly-packed canvas allows no room for any actor to shine beyond the cheesy lines written by Amit Masurkar and Nishant Hada.

Miraculously, the love story between the star-crossed couple survives. Tusshar and Kulraj are no Romeo and Juliet. But then this is no epic love tale. The pair here is entertaining. Tusshar’s Sardar act is amusing. The packaging and presentation of the comic ambience throws forward a certain quicksilver quality of humour that isn’t meant for all tastes.

As far as ensemble comedies in Bollywood goes “Char Din Ki Chandni” is spunkier more energetic than what you’ve probably seen in the other recent ha-ha-thons. (IANS)
