Bollywood actress Nupur Mehta denies any role in match fixing
Bollywood actress Nupur Mehta on Monday rubbished allegations that she was involved in match-fixing in last year's World Cup Cricket semi-final between India and Pakistan at Mohali and threatened to sue a London daily.
The Sunday Times carried out a sting operation on a Delhi-based bookie who claimed that the 2011 semi-final was rigged. The paper said that a Bollywood starlet was used to lure Pakistani players to underperform, but did not name her.
An image with a blurred face was published in the newspaper with a report claiming that match-fixing is rampant in international cricket and UK's domestic county as well. The image seems to be of Nupur.
Nupur, who has worked in Sunny Deol starrer 'Jo Bole So Nihal' (2005), told PTI, "I have been accused of something that I have not done. All I would say is I am not guilty of any such thing."
"The picture that they have used was taken during my film, 'Jo Bole So Nihal'," she said. She has threatened to take legal action against the British daily. "I intend to take action against them." (DNA)

John’s bail plea was rejected and sentenced to 15 days jail
Bollywood hunk John Abraham was sentenced to 15 days jail for rash driving. Way back in 2006, he has injured two pedestrians while riding his motorbike in Khar Danda area, Mumbai.
John Abraham, who is busy promoting his first home production ‘Vicky Donor’ has been sentenced to 15 days jail for rash driving. The hunk has applied for bail but the Mumbai Sessions Court has today rejected his bail plea against the verdict of the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
The Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court had sentenced 15 days imprisonment on the charges of rash and negligent driving in October 2010. The actor had filed a plea against the judgment.
Today the Mumbai High Court heard the trial of his bail case and John’s bail plea was rejected. The court upheld the decision given by the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court in 2010. Now, let’s see whether John Abraham would appeal against Mumbai Sessions Court and move to high court for justice.

3 days collection office report of film ‘Kahaani’
After being appreciated for her performance in female-centric “Ishqiya”, “No One Killed Jessica” and “The Dirty Picture”, actress Vidya Balan carries forwards the legacy of hits with “Kahaani”, which has reportedly collected Rs.2.95 crore on its opening day.
Released Friday, the drama-thriller made at a shoestring budget of Rs.8 crore is receiving positive response from both the critics and audiences
“The film has opened very well. The collection in India on Friday was Rs. 2.95 crore and on Saturday it earned Rs. 4.5 crore. A full-pack show is expected on Sunday. The film will definitely survive for over a week,” Taran Adarsh told IANS.
In director Sujoy Ghosh’s Vidya is cast as a software programmer. She comes to Kolkata from London in search of her husband, who is the father of her unborn child.
Gautam Dutta, COO, PVR said that the film has superseded their expectation.
“The response we are getting for the film is phenomenal. There are families coming together to watch the movie. And since it is a women-centric film, there are group of females coming to watch the film. We are expecting a 80 percent occupancy all over India on weekend, which is something we did not expect. And the film should be able to do a good business,” Dutta told IANS.
It is being co-distributed by Pen India Pvt. Ltd, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Boundscript Motion Pictures Pvt. Ltd
” ‘Kahaani’ is a film that is made for serious and sensible cinegoers. Vidya’s performance is being appreciated by audience. The film is not entertaining like ‘The Dirty Picture’, that is why it has a niche audience. But it will not only recover its cost but also earn profits,” said Delhi based distributor Joginder Mahajan.
If the story and Viday’s charma are attracting audiences, distributor Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts Ltd says word of mouth is also helping the film a lot in gaining success.
“It is houseful in multiplexes and we are expecting collection of Rs.5 crore on Sunday. It is the word of mouth that is bringing people to the theaters,” Ghai said.
As no big releases are scheduled for next week, sop Ghai feels absence of biggies at the box office will also help “Kahaani” in strengthening its position at the ticket window.
“Since there is no big release next week, it is expected the movie will earn a good amount of profit,” he added. (IANS)Bollywood Celebs At Lakme Fashion Week 2012
