Imran Khan as baddie in ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2′

Bollywood actor Imran Khan, known for his chocolate boy looks, will turn baddie for the sequel of the 2010 film “Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai”. He will play a don in parallel lead with Akshay Kumar.

The movie was to feature Shahid Kapoor earlier but now Imran has been finalised for it.

“Talks were on with Shahid but we have decided on Imran now. Imran loved the script, and we are very gung-ho about this project. The audience will get to see a different Imran,” Girish Johar, head of acquisition and distribution, Balaji Motion Pictures, told IANS.

In the film, Akshay will be seen as underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and Imran will play his rival Aslam.

The project will be directed by Milan Luthria, who is basking in the success of “The Dirty Picture”.

The prequel – “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” – had Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi together on screen. Their mentor-turned-rival chemistry as Sultan Mirza and Shoaib, respectively, was appreciated.

Rhea Kapoor to make next film on ‘Herogiri’

It seems Rhea Kapoor is in love with books. After presenting a modern adaptation of the classic novel “Emma” through her debut film “Aisha”, the young producer has bought the rights to Indian author Mainik Dhar’s “Herogiri”.

The younger daughter of actor Anil Kapoor, Rhea is adapting the book into a full-fledged screenplay.

The 25-year-old sibling of actress Sonam Kapoor will announce her movie’s cast soon, said a source.

“Herogiri” is an Indian take on the superhero genre. It is said to be a racy, action-packed novel about good and evil, power and corruption, love and violence.

The narrative follows the life of Arnab Bannerjee, a shy 25-year-old, who has little excitement in his life other than tracking down missing books as an assistant librarian in a Delhi University college.

But everything changes the day he awakens to discover superhuman powers within him. He begins his crusade against eve-teasers, highway robbers, corrupt policemen, and scheming politicians and their goons. But his most challenging mission is to thwart a deadly terror attack on Delhi.

Over time, he realises that to succeed he has to become a part of the very system he hates. How he fights for his mission and whether he sticks to his ideals is the mystery element in the story. (Courtesy: filmitown)

Vidya Balan's Kahani Movie Review - The Best Bollywood Thriller ever !

Kahaani is one of the best Bollywood thrillers of recent times. The movie just asserts the most important thing that has become elusive for a long time- Content is King. Thankfully, last week’s Paan Singh Tomar and Kahaani released today have reinstated the fact that there are filmmakers who can dish out superior cinema.

Story of Kahaani
Vidya Bagchi, a non-resident Indian comes from London, in Kolkata, heavily pregnant and stressed out due to the disappearance of her husband. He seems to have landed in India, and vanished in thin air. The search is not as easy as it seems. Yes the police are co-operative but therein lies a huge cover-up that has its seeds in a past catastrophic event. It would be criminal to reveal more, but it would be sufficient to say that the story is not as linear as an average mind would conjecture.

Plus points of Kahaani.
Director Sujoy Ghosh has transformed into a master craftsman with the film. Not only is he able to capture the sheer opulence of Bengal's festival Durga Puja, he also manages to work his way through the dark alleys in the hidden pockets of the state where a deceptive world fights hard to maintain its well engineered cover-up. The movie is flawlessly realistic without losing out on the entertainment quotient. As you brace the finishing line, all those broken pieces, that registered in your mind subconsciously, fall into place in such a manner that some of the hard-browed cynics may confess that the ending stumped them. The movie is peppered with many fantastic scenes that actually push the envelope, in terms of cinematic expertise. Advaita Kala has written the story of Kahaani along with Sujoy Ghosh. She has said that she will be releasing a novel on the same story soon.

Performances in Kahaani – The helpful cop Satyoki aka Rana (Parambrata Chattopadhyay) is adorably restrained. A. Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui)‘s hot-headed cop act is a bit over the top, but he does have amazing screen presence The ensemble supporting cast is fantastic; Saswata Mukherjee as a hired assassin and Kharaj Mukherjee as a kindly podgy cop are beacons of brilliance. These two actors may not be quite familiar to Bollywood but they are veterans in Bengali cinema; we are sure they are going to get many offers in future for Hindi cinema (whether they like it or not). Indraneil Sengupta has a small but pivotal role in the film.

Now, to the reason why we went to watch Kahaani in the first place - Vidya Balan. Vidya or should we say, Brilliant Balan has delivered an amazing performance once again. There is no stopping this amazing talent who has given us back to back superhits in the form of Paa, Ishqiya, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture and now, Kahaani. She won all the awards in 2011 as well as National Award, this one shows that she definitely deserves another one for Kahaani.

There have been good actresses like Vidya Balan before as well, but she is a rare combination of beauty and brains; brains enough to sense a good script that can make love to the box-office.
